Insomnia

The inability to sleep properly is one of the worst maladies that a person can suffer. Insomnia makes everything worse — pain, anxiety, digestive disorders and a host of other problems. Some people have a difficult time falling asleep while others wake up frequently and cannot fall back asleep.

Insomnia is often the result of a dysfunction in the heart or liver. These imbalances are often caused by stress, overwork, poor diet or lifestyle choices. If blood flow to the heart is slightly diminished, the patient will have a hard time falling asleep. If the liver is inflamed or sluggish, the patient will wake up a number of times at night. Both of these conditions are treated very well using Acupuncture and Chinese Botanical Medicine. As these organs are brought into balance, your sleep and health improve.

In Chinese Medicine, insomnia is a symptom of lack of health and function, not simply a disease of its own.
